Lest the students out there get disillusioned, it is probably a good idea to be upfront about the reality of being a doctor:

You mean the thrill of draining pus wears off? How disappointing.
Nothing like a nice big gooey pus pocket. Especially when as a nurse I get to stand by and let you docs deal with it.
It's entirely possible that I have said "Take your time, that scrotum's not going anywhere" at some point in my career.
